She Of Then And Now Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

She Of Then And Now

She of then and now

She of then
My lover, my lover, my lover.

She was so different.

Now she thinks
is modern
but always a prey.

Selfish, dumb?
I see her as simple
and even innocent.

Disrespects respected
Respects disrespected.

This is pain…

Then she left a bank job:
“Boss tabbed me on shoulder.”

Then claimed and dressed:
“Do not like loose muscle; is against…”
She said and referred to:
“…attracts eyes of the men…”

Her parents: “wear modest.”

A peacock with colours
doesn't know, discovers
through words she hears
of people on TV, the actors…

Limited has become
dignity has flown
her teachers and parents
all buried, forgotten.

She has changed
not for good but for worse.
