Sheets Poem by Anisa Tara

Sheets

We've wrung our sheets
And hung them out to dry
Their dried and ready to be tucked away
But I can't say the same for my
Bitter heart, dying in this heat
Your doors don't open to me anymore
Before I can touch them
Shuffling before a wall of noise for
Me to say that I love you
But our stars never match up in your sky
Though they align perfectly fine in mine
And I love you is what I need to say
But the sheets are folded and tucked away
And for all the time we've spent behind those doors
I can't keep my rotten feelings at bay
Love looks at me with mournful eyes
Only to wonder why the sight of me
Makes it all die
I've longed for this longing
When ultimately all I've ever longed for
Was for you to long for me as I
Still love you
When there was still something
For you to look forward to
Now I peep through keyholes
To see where another now lays
The cupboards tap my shoulder to say
All our sheets have long been tucked away
