Shining Poem by Benjamin Elemide

Shining

I

Every night
I jump to the sky
hoping one day
I'll become a star.

I want to peep
through curtains of darkness
with glowing dreams.

II

Darkness is a fertile ground
for the growth of tender light.

Without it,
we may not appreciate
the beauty of light.

III

When you see me twinkle,
know that they are
the testimonies of dark times.
