Shun The Stock Market Poem by Rm. Shanmugam Chettiar

Shun The Stock Market

Buy it when sellers are heavy
And sell it when buyers are so;
You must swim against the current
To stand up in the stock market.

Buy it cheap when it looks an ass
And sell it hot when it's a horse;
You must swim against the current
To live up in the stock market.

Buy it not that you cannot hold
For such a time as it may need;
You must not swim in the deep sea
To be safe in the stock market.

With greed one buys shares for a rise
And with fear one sells not to lose.
I should or should not have bought it.
I should or should not have sold it.

People enter the stock market
To sow the seeds for a harvest.
They fail to leave the stock market
Before it's lost in the whirl pool.

Stock market is a number game.
One man's gain is another's loss.
It provides ground for the gamblers
Some ego gratification.

Brokers play in the stock market.
How far the price curves will go up
Or come down is anybody's guess.
You travel depending on luck.

You grow to be a materialist.
You lose peace of mind most of time.
As an investor, you risk less
But you do no productive work.
