Shunned Poem by Andy Barrette

Shunned

It's unwise to starve your hopes
and feed your bitterness too much
yet I express my hatred with a body
that no one would touch;
A world of doubts has left my mouth
that nobody would kiss
and my wounded heart is covered
by a scar no one can miss.
And so I'm stuck with toughened hands
that nobody would take;
My arms outstretched in violence
that no one could mistake.
I want to feel the dying love
that never came to be,
but all I see is backs of people
turned away from me.
