Shutters And Silence Poem by Micronjan (also use name micron)

Shutters And Silence

Empty streets where shutters cling,
Windows like eyes that never see.
Crowds pass by with hurried feet,
Ignoring hands that beg, that plea.

Cardboard beds at streetlight's edge,
Bodies curled where shadows wedge.
A mother hums a lullaby,
While strangers turn and walk on by.

Charity bins, cracked and bare,
Echo the hollow in the air.
Pockets empty, stomachs gnaw,
Silent suffering, no one saw.

Silver towers scrape the sky,
Gold behind walls that never pry.
Business doors locked tight and cold,
While hunger grows, both young and old.

We measure wealth, we praise our arts,
Yet nothing touches starving hearts.
Concrete veins choke the city's core,
And still, the crowds pass by, ignore.
