Silence Poem by Vinayak Manikkedath

Silence

Silence,
Of another
Is respected
As long as reason
Remains….
Behind a veil..
Reason
Once revealed
Ha! !
Human weakness! ! ....
Smiled upon
By intellectuals…
Laughed upon…
By people who themselves think
They are none the lesser….
Pitied,
Spitted upon,
Worse….
Sympathized….
Aha! ! ye! ! you kindly note
Not…..empathised…
But…
Sympathized…..
A margin of difference
Like that of an ocean
Compared with a pail of water…..
But on the other side you think
Those who remain silent
Though a storm wells inside them…
But still remains mum
Their eyes
Nor their lips
Betraying them….of their confusion,
The intricacies,
The doubts,
The fear,
The depth,
Of their sense of
Nonsensical being…..
Their silence remains golden
Revered,
Through life…
Through eternity.
