Silence Is Electrum - Poem by Liz Annson

All the people around me are so loud
It makes me angry
And Sad
They do not know what silence is
They do not know the
Cool
Serenity that is
Quiet.
They cannot understand quiet
Anymore than they can understand
Moi
Me Myself.
(I do not expect them to,
Of course.
But it would be nice
To have somebody to talk
to/
with/
to me)
As they cannot understand perfect
Silence, they cannot
Understand perfect sound.
Perfect noise.
Perfect music
(how they hate my music!
He isn't gay. Really.) .
They cannot understand the silence
In my mind
Where i retreat when it is too loud
They cannot understand the music
In my mind
When I cannot stand the quiet.
Silence is silver; is
Electum beauty.
Music is golden;
Not quite as beautiful as
Electrum. But
Pretty
Enough.
