Silent Screams Of The Heart Poem by Robert Kemberling

Silent Screams Of The Heart

Rating: 5.0

As I kissed you goodbye
And watched you drive away
The tears filled my eyes
My heart begging you to stay

I ignored my heart
It’s Silent Screams
Is it time to start
To fulfill my dreams?

I pushed you away again
This time for good
Thought there would be no pain
That I was strong where I stood

I no longer hear your voice
I no longer see your face
I let you go but not by choice
These Silent Screams set to replace

Why did I silence the screams
When the ensuing pain kills?
Why did I silence the dreams
And not kill the insomnia with pills?

My love, my love was so dead and cold
God pulled you from my life
Should have married your heart of gold
Should have made you my wife

These Silent Screams are deafening
The silence of insanity
The impending emptiness threatening
Oh GOD, My LORD! Return me to serenity!

The darkness that kept me away
Is fading to let God’s light in
Why oh why couldn’t you stay?
I’ve been chastised for my sin.
