Silent Threshold - Poem by Midifo Yearns

Beyond the threshold of silence,
mysterious language of God,
emerging sound rises and falls
cascades like stream into myriad
forms: shrieks, cries, laughter,
music; tuneful, soul-searching, music!

Cross the threshold of silence
discover the deep origin of sound
allow to form words that carry ideas,
emotions, deep longings of the heart;
creative, molding words, couching truth
putting song into music of the soul.

Silence holds the words, between sounds
draws us back to the source and destiny
of sound, fulfillment of all desire
breaking into the still, loving arms
of a quiet peace, wherein we find God,
self, and all being, in silent sound.
