Simple Almonds Poem by D.C. Malone

Simple Almonds

is it so bad
that i don't want
to make the sky
cry and leave all
its clouds to weep
over the things i
have yet to do?

is it so bad
to wish that my
life was in the
tune of light traf-
-fic on a day
that reeks of plain
vanilla and
simple cashews?

is it so bad
that i just want
to melt and rock
back and forth and
back and Forth in
a rocking chair
sitting in a
unpretentious,
content glaze that's
thick like syrup?

is it so bad
i don't want to
rhyme, end, or give
meaning to but rat-
-her whisper with
overpowering
comfort and still
somehow be heard?

is it so bad
that i just want
to be?
