I'm not a bad guy
wasn't abused as a child
didn't have a silver spoon
never got too wild
we didn't have central air
we didn't drive nice cars
we didn't take vacations
to some place real far
We had family meals
where everyone ate
we talked about the day
we always said grace
we were taught to be proud
of the flag and our town
always stand at attention
no matter what, not a sound
We were taken to church
where we learned and we prayed
we heard Blessed Assurance
and we sang Amazing Grace
There was not a grownup around
that could not spank our tails
once you got home
you got a beating from hell
Our Dad was the man
our mom was his wife
things weren't to complicated
we lived a simple life
We grew up too fast
and started our own
we paid our own way
raised our kids till they were grown
We like to drink beer
and shoot our loud guns
cook barbq in the yard
play in the sun
