Simple Play Poem by Alexandriia Stone

Simple Play

The children play
They smile today
Tomorrow doesn't matter
Their youth won't let them shatter
They simply play and laugh and breath
The blossoms that fall as they grow gather to make a wreath.

When they get lost
Their smiles touched with frost
Tomorrow filled with broken dreams
Busy lives unraveling at the seams
They've forgotten to laugh and play and sleep
Open hearts and simple views they can't afford to keep.

So rock-a-bye baby, don't you cry
The world sings its toxic lullaby
Putting active minds and hearts to sleep
So they can't see what steals peace and keeps waters the deep
For if they stay young they'll always question.
Instead they accept everything wrong and learn their lesson.
