Single Woman Poet Poem by Sreekala Sivasankaran

Single Woman Poet

Single Woman Poet

What do you do?
I write poems
What for?
I am a poet
So what?
I don't know
Go to hell
I am in
Can't you die?
I like to live
How?
By my breath
By my sweat
Aren't you ashamed?
For what?
You are a whore
How?
You will kill us
I can't kill anyone
Start a school
Life is one
Useless
Not me
We will kill you
What for?
We don't want you
I want
Go away
I just returned
A thunderbolt
Banging on the door
Lights are off
I lit up a lamp
The flame gives me
The warmth of a whole world
Light on the peace of paper
What else does a poet need?
To write everything
That she wants
