Siren Poem by Rishini Fernando

Siren

Rating: 2.5

I was flattered and frightened
I stared my jaws hang open
With a crushing pain piercing my bones

Seems like a puzzle?

The wounds, scars, pain, sorrows, fears
In the darkest corners of my life,
The ones I perfectly hide from the entire world with a smile
The ones I thought you would embrace, kiss and heal.

My love,

Those were the exact spots you,
Attacked, deepened and made me bleed.
I offered you the most fragile thing in a silver platter,
This naked soul of mine.
You dropped it in the very same place I trusted you wouldn't.

So I screamed out of pain
You heard the scream like a siren. Irritating, I understand.
Yet,
You did not see a bleeding soul.
What a tragedy!
