Sister Moon In The Audience Poem by The Lilt of Orpheus

Sister Moon In The Audience

The borrowed light of tomorrow shines murkily in muse, reflected in the circle of a ghostly face
You come n’ go along a charted path, stargazing, ambling silently in modulating maternal grace
Your body, where no one has ever paced an ancient bare foot, oh pilgrim traversing dark space
We are blind n’ mute to anguish do not trip upon a star to fall before our viral imprisoned race
For you will bleed the song by magic music of spheres, blood silently dries to ornate rusty lace

Please don’t postpone your breath while waiting for us to understand your apocalyptic clue
Though it would be the perfect shade of blue for something brand new, we have a debt or two
Please don’t get angry for all the human failings, we ignore her ailing, her retribution overdue
They will only think you’re sick as you shine a ghastly shade of pink, a sign of the oncoming flu
For all our filthy past mistakes, for us she quakes, yet she will thank you as you bid us adieu

Please don’t allow your heart to break in hearing our hollow hearts fill with the cry of a sky lark
If your blood were to fall through space they would say you cast dark arts then crucify your heart
Descartes no longer haunts the tip of their tongue, a dialog of religious darts, all sense departs
In the fires of your soul linger still silver thoughts from the mystics of the Rhineland to impart
Ashes to feather, quill of flaming ink, the phoenix of the poet’s wings in sync, thy rhythmic art

With a front row seat of anticipation sister moon pulls back her hair of tidal seas with silence
The coiled snake that bites her tail slithers violently round 360 nautical degrees of her audience
Now they are awake, bleeding eyes finally see, bloody screams falling into multiple abyss
A sonnet of days with a curse in every verse the mantle rhymes in rapid quakes of bitterness
Infested in the fleas of humanity she writes a deadly verse of liberty in new consciousness.
