Sisters In Song Poem by Justin Gildow

Sisters In Song

It's another day in the world
And I'm on a walk
Walking by the side of the road
Listening to my Ipod
Looking at nature to the right

Stopping by a church
I don't go in
I just gaze at it

A cemetery is outside the church
I walk through it
Looking at the many tombstones

After that
I spy a bench
I sit down
Admiring the scenery around me
Even the birds in the tree
I turn off my Ipod
And just listen to the birds sing

From a short distance away
I see them
All 6 of them
They must be sisters
Because they talk and laugh amongst
themselves

I wave to them
A few of them wave to me
And then, they all decide to walk up
to me

I greet them
Wishing them hello
They do the same back
We ask each other's names

They tell me they're sisters
Years apart separate their ages
But they have a strong special bond

I have to admit
In this day and age
That's something rare
And something special as well

Outside
By the church
I tell them stories of my life
And they tell me stories of their
lives

They tell me that they sing
So, I offer them a chance to sing

One by one
They sing wonderfully
They sing well
Sisters in song
They are

It's time for them to go
And time for me to be on my way
I tell them I don't go to church
But they offer me an invitation to go
with them to church
I tell them " that would be nice "
Maybe I'll take them up on their offer
Maybe I'll see them again

Even though I've only known them for a
short time
They have wonderful hearts
Sweet girls
Sweet ladies
Kindness matters to the 6 of them
And hope is what they give to many like
me

Maybe I'll see you girls at church
Maybe we'll share more special moments
in time to come
If that's the case
Then I can't wait, girls
