Sitting Atop A Rocky Perch Poem by Mohammad Younus

Sitting Atop A Rocky Perch

Sitting atop a rocky perch,
I watch white globes of snow
Sail softly through the brook below,
Melting gently under the sun's caress—
Transforming to pure water,
A gift to quench the thirsty land
And all beings, friends of humankind.

I gaze down the valley,
A masterpiece shaped by the divine.
Greens in countless shades unfold:
Deep emeralds on lofty leaves
Blend with lime in sprawling fields.

Nature's palette stretches wide—
Green entwined with yellow,
Browns and reds of earthen hues,
A divine hand's formless brush
Painting a boundless vista before me.

The brook winds its way,
Majestic, glimmering, alive—
Light dances on its rippling waves,
A moving brushstroke of life,
Bestowing color and sustenance
To fields, creatures, and humankind alike.

This endless canvas surrounds me,
Crafted for wonder and delight.
The birds' symphony rises high,
A melody woven through divine art,
Filling my heart with love and awe—
For He is my essence and this valley's soul
