Size Zero Poem by Catherine Taylor

Size Zero

They say zero is perfection
Then turn around and change their minds
Curves are beautiful
A zero is a nothing
And here I stand
Not starved but feed well from the day I was born
And here I stand
Barely over a hundred pounds
And here I stand
Victimized and traumatized
By those who believe
My size and worth are one in the same
And when will it be enough they ask
Not understanding my pain
All they see is a model body
My life must be perfect
For I am already perfection
Yet they fail to see
The damage they cause to me
Is the same that has caused theirs
And almost without thinking
They have become what they speak out against
I am zero
