Sky Fishes Poem by Rajagopalan Kumar

Sky Fishes

Over the boundless ocean far and wide
The sun spreads its golden net over the tide
Waits all day in the sky, no place to hide
Cometh dusk, tired, walks down yonder hill side.

The predator gone, no nets to fear to die
The smiling dolphin moon leaps to the sky
Phantom fishes spring up from the ether sea
Myriad ocean fishes jump to the sky in glee
A thousand sky fishes swim the blues so high
Happy time till it is time for night to die.

Through the dark ether ocean swarm stars all the night
At dawn the yawning sun rises from the deep, so bright
Spreading its golden fishing net all across the sky
Golden harpoons of light, creating a bloody red sky
Many thousand twinkling sky fish scramble in fright
Many flee to distant space far out of human sight
Many dive into the sea so deep, fear the shafts of light
Gets caught into the early fisher folk nets set so tight.
