Skyscraper Poem by Vonnie Postit

Skyscraper

before the night is through, i will have written three love poems for you.
before the day is done, i will have thought about you a million times and one.
before i decay in my bed, i will think about every word you have ever said.

since you boarded that plane
i am incapable of writing a proper poem

the baggage you checked held much more than
broken letters from a broken girl, much more than
clothing stained with the smell of cheap cigarettes, much more
than memories that can be easily moved on from.
the day was cloudy, but not absurd, insignificant.

i am incapable of writing a proper poem
since you boarded that plane

before i decay in my bed, i will think about every word you have ever said.
before the day is done, i will have thought about you a million times and one.
before the night is through, i will have written three loves poems for you.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
a shitty poem while i am trying to figure out how the fuck to say that i feel broken and i am so scared that i am in love with kirby. i am even more scared that this has nothing at all to do with him and everything in the world to do with me. who am i?
