Sleeping Love Poem by Miranda Oney

Sleeping Love

The rhythm of your heart drums its magical melody in my ear.
Your chest rises and falls with each breath you take. My head
rests in the crook of your neck, taking in your natural scent.
Your gentle hand rests on the small of my back, fingers
tracing small circles onto my skin. My fingers have become
entangled in your dark mess of hair. Your other hand has found
a home on my thigh. Eyes closed, slumbering breath melting
into one fluid movement. Sleeping there on the couch, after
a normal day in our life, wrapped in a poet's heart.
