You make up lame excuses.
But they know it's all just lies.
You try to brush off accusations.
While tears bleed from your eyes.
You tell them that you'll be okay.
That is was just one big mistake.
You make it sound so typical.
Like your lying for their sake.
And then your at the party.
Cleaning up this mess.
Laughing at the stain you found.
On your beautiful bright blue dress.
And as you wash the dishes.
You think how it all changed.
Here you are playing pretend.
Feeling guilty and feeling ashamed
But you ignore all those feelings and take a quick glance.
At your criss crossed sleeve of lines.
Saying how it's been so long.
Such a very long long time.
Then you look down at that very knife.
You used to slice your tears.
But clean, dry, and put away.
Like your past is no where near.
