Slipknot - Poem by Krystin Cargo

slip through the knot
this dangling noose in my mind
here the thud on the cold pavement
that’s you
your soul
heavy with all the torments bestowed upon you
lying there
eyes glazed over turned toward the sky
the cadence of your breath slow
staggered
weak
why not reach out for me?
your feelingless hands
groping for security
it’s almost too late
glistening in the sun while you’re in shadow
it’s only a few seconds of bliss
you choose the seconds over life
bleed it out
don’t wait it out
you could’ve made it
it kisses your skin
you wake up
cold sweat running down your spine
'if only....' you whisper
'if only I could die...'
that’s the fear within you
too scared to live
nail it too the wall in a prison
gaurds keeping watchful eyes on it
so that you wont have to fear your fear
look in the mirror
I see my soul
slipping through the knot
this dangling noose in my mind
here the collapse
here my surrender
I choose life
