Slipper & Armor Poem by Shaunee Gwindale

Slipper & Armor

One has a the slipper
the other has the armor
destined to be woven together
no consent to either
Pain, love, and trust the armor must earn
while the slipper must learn
Pain, discet, and madness
in this cold crazy world
we say we all live in harmony
what of the poor beggar and the rich man?
will the armor ever find peace?
and will the slipper ever find love?
we always tell ourselves it doesn't matter
if we are the slipper
or if we are clad in armor
oh but it does
for we always long for the other
and when we get it
we miss the other
or do we?
or are we all truly selfish beings?
craving what we cannot have
and wishing we could turn back time
and get back what we once had
or does time truly laugh
at our struggles
while the slipper and the armor
constantly collide
the princess and the knight
destined to be alone
for all eternity
