Slowly Poem by Nina gáspari

Slowly

Slowly drifting away
Is the one I prayed it would stay
No golden coins, diamonds or pearls
Could ever bring it back to my world
Slowly fading away
As the sun sets meeting the sea waves
No apologies, promises or words left unsaid
Could ever bring it back my way
Slowly sinking down
Is the one I thought would still be around
No mirrors, flowers or silver
Could bring back what belongs to the river
Slowly disappearing
Into the wide, savage blue
Is the one I thought would be unlike you
No gifts, kisses or rings
Could ever play a trick on destiny
And bring it all back
Back to me, but
Maybe I don´t want it back
After all
Maybe in the deep sea
It´s where it belongs
Maybe distance is what I need
To once again be strong
