In the silence of the hour
I think of folk I knew
As I gaze upon their photos one by one
Smiles and tears combine
Sweet memories touch my mind
Of walks along the Thames
In summertime.
Thoughts are in my head
Of green and open spaces
When spring and summer mingle on the air
Some say it's doom and gloom
But I will book my room
And board the train to London
Once again.
My bag and case I'll pack
('though I will be coming back)
I have pretty summer dresses fresh and cool
Sandals white or black
And nothing shall I lack
As I greet those friends of mine
At Waterloo.
