Smiling Heart Poem by Nina gáspari

Smiling Heart

And to think
I used to be with you when
You think so little of me
And I
I was so careful about
My thoughts of you
Never did anything harmful
And I
I was sincere and true
About my sentiments towards you
And every once in a while
When my cell rings in the middle of the night
I still believe it could be you
Just to make my heart smile
And to think
You thinking little of me
Made me forget how big
I can be
So if you ever notice
Your thoughts of me have grown
Please keep it to yourself,
I´d like to preserve that unknown
So when my cell rings in the lonely nights
I know it´s not you, but I´m alright
Got another reason to make my heart smile.
