Smithy My Mentor Poem by J.B. LeBuert

Smithy My Mentor

You have called now after all these years,
There were times that almost brought tears.
You still seem to be that same special guy,
I knew way back when, we used to get high.

I'm so glad that it is far behind us at last.
We've both gone through so much in the past.
I now look to you to become my mentor.
You surely have my trust, and know my center.

Your advice is needed at this time in my life
I'm wavering from some unneeded strife.
I'm all over the board, and that's a fact.
I ask this without any remorse or tact.

Your emails and voice have shown me your heart.
It's your words and advice that will be a part,
Of my future decisions, as I go forward.
Just open up and give me your word.

So here I go on another journey.
Let's hope I don't end up on a gurney.
I know if I listen to your sage admonition
I'll be better off and in good condition.

Let me close this little note by stating,
I'm not kidding or to you indicating,
That I'll do anything but what is required,
To make my life, seem more inspired.
