Smoking Poem by Hans Raj Sharma

Smoking

I’m smoking
The smoke of
A big size
Cigar
The life
Cush by Cush
Inhaling
A poisonous
Substance
From the air
So polluted
Prohibited for
Breathing in
And the fire
Burning out
The smoke
Smoke of
My Organism.

The tobacco
Nicotinic
Use and abuse
Imported
From out side
Not a creation
Of my own
Slowly
Very slowly
Poisoning
The system
As a whole
Cutting
Short my life
Under stress
And strain
Of emotions.

Taking
I’m Taking
The wine
Of malice
Frowns
And hatred
Mixed with pure
Mineral water
Falling down
Tear by tear
From my eyes
And heart bleeds.

Taking
I’m taking
The divine
And devilish
Both
Chili-chicken
And variety
Of non-veg
The people
Taking me
Me for a man
Fully fed
With a rich diet
So balanced
Contented
And fortunate
As such
Rarely seen
In social circle
Of high ups
What a paradox!

Maintaining
I’m maintaining
No accounts
As to who comes
Forward
Or who does leave
In the lurch
Some links
Believing
In rumors
Others in me
Whereby
The time is
Fleeting
Getting off
Changing
Whole scenario
Only a fistful
Number
Staying
By my side.

Missing
I’m missing
Something
So much so
It hurts me
While taking
All memories
Together
That I feel
I’m blessed
Believing-
All good
On my way
Knowing-
The situation
Existing
Wou’d change.

Privacy
I’m in privacy
As a tasted
Trusted
And tested
Addiction
How calm
And peaceful
Once there
Having been
Thereafter-
Not interested
Any more
In relations.

Dying, thus
I’m dying sure
A death in cool.
