Smoldering Wick Poem by Gio Masserati

Smoldering Wick

Smoldering wick

Candles were burning
Burning
From both Loving ends
I know it deep in my heart
Felt it light up my being

Then came life
With it's breezes
Whirly winds of truth
Facing me
Facing you
Never would I
Have ever imagined

My scenic view
Continues
To renew...
Like a snapshot
A few

No matter how much
I want or try
To look away
Pain stares me in the eye
Saying in so many words
Don't pretend you didn't see
They were looking
Right at me
What more do you need?
Heed my warning
...I agreed

For what you see
You cannot unsee
It's just our human nature
But during pain
Hurt and disdain
We still can have
The Word

Indeed
Biblical Creed,

A bruised reed
he will not break,
And a smoldering wick
He will not stuff out.
In faithfulness
He will bring forth justice;

The Word
of the Lord
Isaiah 42: 3

... smoldering wick
Still
Smoldering
Calm
... still lit
But smoldering

I will not
Be snuffed out!

He...she...
Will not snuff me out

I Am Candlelight!
