Snowflakes Fall Over A Silent Valley, Shivering Poem by Mohammad Younus

Snowflakes Fall Over A Silent Valley, Shivering

Snowflakes fall over a silent valley, shivering,
A somber sky veils the valley in white.
Bare branches wear silvery blossoms,
Freezing winds whisper their elegy through the night.
Stars whisked away, their glitter veiled till spring,
A people frozen, yearning for warmth, for life's song to ring.

Fireplaces without firewood, deforestation done,
No electricity, stolen from houses and hearths.
Hearts shudder in the bitter grip of winter's chill,
Children's laughter buried beneath a frozen still.

Amid this icy grip, hearts falter, still alone,
Heavy with silence, an aching void to fill.
Who will melt this frost of despair?
Who will breathe warmth into frozen hearts?
Awaiting spring—not just its gentle embrace,
But a thaw for hearts, and freedom's trace.
