Snowy Night Poem by Justin Chan

Snowy Night

A starless sky,
It is dark.
Clouds cover the moon,
Blocking its azure glow.

A cold wind blows by,
Telling stories,
Of snow and ice,
Crying out,
'Go home, snow comes! '

I hear its cries,
Still I stay.
I have nowhere to go.
Sitting at the sidewalk,
Gazing at the sky.

Slowly,
Soft as a lover's kiss,
The first pristine flake,
Floats down,
A false beauty.

Bemused,
I look at the falling snowflakes.
Reminds me,
Of a long forgotten song.
A song of a girl,
Peddling matchsticks.

'Come buy my matchsticks sir,
They are dry, not wet with snow.
Come buy my matchsticks sir,
The fire is getting low.'
