Snuggle Up Poem by Gordon D Wilkinson

Snuggle Up

Crackling fingers creeping higher
Laying, watching in the hearth of the fire
Flickering spurts from wooded knots burn
Smokey tendrils rising twisting in turn
Spitting out occasional glowing embers arc
Brightening up the cold and dark
Hissing sap singing its watery song
Flames getting bigger, hotter and strong
Warmth spreading its arms wide
Closer to the heat together we slide
Locked in a warm embrace
Fire glowing tan across your face
Just two lovers naked repose
Oh how quickly, the night goes
