So Close, So Far Poem by Rachel Musser

So Close, So Far

Rating: 5.0

You are so close,
Yet so far away.
I listen day by day-
to your heart beat,
so faintly in my mind.
You left your imprint in me.
I feel its life, but the coldness-
all around, reminds me-
You are gone.
You slip between my fingers-
I cannot grasp you- like
an overflowing waterfall going through me.
I reach out to you-
all is air.
You are so close,
Yet so far away.

I like the longing. It reminds me of corpses.
