So Far So Good Poem by Raymond Farrell

So Far So Good

I never gave the matter much thought
until the Ontario government
announced another hard lockdown
because of the Covid 19 virus
But here I am
an old age pensioner
and the first member
in my paternal line
to make it past 60
My great- great grandfather
died in his thirties
in a farm accident
My great grandfather
was murdered in his fifties
My grandfather died
in the 1918 flu pandemic
at the age of 26
And my father died of cancer
at the age of 50
All things considered
I'm ahead of the curve.
