So He Said Poem by Weldon Davis

So He Said

He didn't care
Or so he said
Love in his heart
Hate in his head
O what a desperate fool
Will do for a loaf of bread
He didn't care
Or so he said

Women came and went
In the night with a spark
Then the light
Time to depart
All the kind remarks
Still swimming inside his eyes
Now dead
He didn't care
Or so he said

No future
No friends
No time
No pretend

O what the lonely poet
Writes
Never to be read
He didn't care
Or so he said

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I think sometimes we fool ourselves by saying 'I don't care'..This poem delves into that mind state and the damage it can inflict
COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Cynthia Buhain-baello 25 January 2016

A wonderfully crafted poem, the lines fall perfectly with a beat and smoothness of thought. Though the subject is heartbreaking, the poem is brilliant in presenting emotions and touches the reader's heart. One love lost is not the end - a new love makes us care again.
