Embrace and betrayal,
Delight and deception,
Nourished and forsaken -
Thrice denied,
Wandering fathomless reaches
Of an unremitting universe;
An aeonian void.
Lightning shatters an unborn sky.
Anew and anon
Shadows of after-light dance
In stillness;
Resonant in the eventide
Of lamentation.
All Desire,
All Dream,
All Love,
All Reason;
All myth!
There is none.
Rayless heavens
Shine on unlit fields
And mountains of misfortune.
'Gather repentance'
The shadows say,
'To pledge your ruin.'
Heart unbraided by despair,
Forever trapped
Between summer's fire
And winter's ire;
Brightest sun
And bleakest moon;
Golden dawn
And mournful night;
Isolated and bereaved.
No:
Light,
Hope,
Salvation;
Only:
Sorrow,
Regret,
Inanition;
Dolor without end.
Guardians of Twilight
Lead the way,
Crossing the threshold
To silent chambers,
Warm with empty memories,
Cold with somber empathy.
Promises repercussed,
Vows sundered,
Hope once kindled
Now in violent repose;
A tumultuous howl
Reaching no ear.
Accept me -
I tremble.
Shun me -
I shatter.
Yearn for me -
I leap.
Reject me -
I wither
Implore me -
I come.
Turn from me -
I die.
A Cherubim of Darkness,
Denied passage,
Lunges towards
The Pedestal of Bèan Ruadhán -
Bandia of this desert -
So far beyond reality.
The podium gone,
Its treasure forgotten,
Eternally consigned
To that temple of dusk,
Like a stone.
All lies;
All a cruel torment,
Without escape.
Words unuttered lay
Deep wounds of reproach,
Ulcerating the soul.
Sleepless, trivial necessity
Of inane, impotent desire
Haunts all thoughts.
On the darkest plain
Of Abaddon's domain,
Banished to a lifetime
Of reflection,
Scattered souls
On wasted shores
Line these wastelands,
Forevermore.
