Soliloquies Poem by Matthias Göritz

Soliloquies

Compromises lead to
nothing, memory sleeps
still
chasing goals
of its own. Soliloquies
and dreams
line the path. Isolated
faint sounds in the room, the plink
of lost
bobby pins, cell phones
composure, the stuff
memory is made of
all of it
rustling trees

You see, I'm thinking of you

Now and then
time
is a monstrous slit

Everything, it seems
has already happened

You drop a coin in

Softly you walk into the room
and understand
there is a you
without
me

that's
just

what we meant
when we spoke of love

you and I

still playing the song
wish I knew why
