Solitude, a friend worthy of my trust,
A deep need, a yearning and a lust.
I'm lost in the chaos of intrusions,
I seek shelter from the world of confusion.
It is only in your shade I will find internal rest,
To analyze my thoughts, to emerge at my best.
An old soul seeking new ideas and dreams,
But to follow through is much harder than it seems.
To learn who I am, I proceed at my own pace,
I will compete with myself, no others to race.
I observe my surroundings; I map my own route,
I know of my enemies and I'm armed to shoot.
Walk with me if you must, but know that my calmness may mislead,
If my suspicions are correct, I then too can deceive.
Share your knowledge; bear with me your soul,
And then you will see, I have a true heart of gold.
With no contribution, there will be nothing you see,
With no revelations, there will be no part of me.
It's no preference to be alone; I see not much of a choice,
When there's no meaning in words, just the sound of a voice.
Stimulate the mind, analyze and question,
Observe your surroundings with careful inspection.
There's no shame to be silent, in silence you grow,
You learn of things others dream to know.
