Somafricant Poem by John Howard Davies

Somafricant

SOMNAFRICANT

I want to suck a Rainbow chew a storm and spit a breeze,
I want to take all death away and stick it in deep freeze,
hammer flat some thespians then hang them on some trees,
break a strong north wind in half and throw it past my knees,
turn a night time inside out and dry clean all the stars,
scratch the moon with a plastic brush that I keep in a jar,
I'd like to change my gender when I sometimes sit alone,
dip it's toes into a fountain full of youthful foam,
anachronism, circumcision, U.S. Army drones,
piles of unused murdered jewish children's bones,
I want my salt to always weigh just what it is worth,
pretend that I was there when my mother forced my birth,
Remember all the good old days when I was not a child,
My Father calling, "John, I love you." that wasn't my Dads style,
I'd like to say the things I mean to those I don't hold dear,
someone who passes in a shop of jokes and cards and fear,
My pepper pot is primed and ready to assault a Chinese bowl,
reversing over holes of hell and past a bat blind mole,
two shakes of lambs tails in four four timing there before the clock,
that's set to wander beneath thunder and a lightening shock,
I'd like to suck the colour from a rainbow near my town,
breath the breath of a queen called Beth as she slowly settled down,
paint some shells with a brush that smalls anything it wants too,
bake two cakes knowing one was fake for the skipper and his crew.
