Sting Poem by John Howard Davies

Sting

Your memory stays and stings me
At times when I think of you, just dimly
The impact of your place on earth
Returns me quickly to solid worth
No lie between us can sustain
Importance loses all its reign
Light of day is darker now
As the late summer sun slowly bows
Returning traits of habitual rule
Begin their fading out of school
Sayings, praying's, best of all
Breaks tradition overall
Just empty shells of used up quotes
That'll never pass your quiet throat
Revenge attends the the quiet mind
That races forward then lags behind
Tired dreams unopened doors
Tossed away wishes that cover floors
Breathless stiff and unrevived
Take more than just somebody's life.
