Some Notes From My Heart Poem by RIC BASTASA

Some Notes From My Heart

there are some notes inside my heart
you need not sing them
for they are sad

you do not deserve this sadness
and i do not preach
the philosophy of loneliness

i may have told you about sorrow
a hopeless tomorrow
but i really do not mean to

you are young and restless
learn the songs of my youth
open my cabinet take the box out there

with the drums and the trumpets
play the song and learn the dances
of the wild and the listless

bring me the flute for i am now
at an age where solitude thrives best
in the quiet i shall remember her again
