Some People Poem by Jim Boone

Some People

"But Some People Ain't Me"

I was born to some people who didn't,
Wouldn't, couldn't get it and I knew
Early on that I had it, while viewing a
Long row of challenges that would
Turn me into a star, a poet, an SP or a hoe.

"Goodbye, to blueberry pie"

I always missed momma's fine cooking
For at least a week, but then a hoe-down
In a new place realigned the thought
Processes to men-10, food-3, set decoration-9
And preservation of moi-8; understanding the
Circle of life priceless/countless.

"All the places I gotta play yet,
All the things that I gotta be"

There was so much more than the birth place:
Dallas and Neiman Marcus, Hollywood, Korea and Japan
And SP4, E4 Boone, New York with a Robert Ragsdale
Something-or-another entry; Houston in the doo-dah days
And an ‘orgy' of friends and real close acquaintances
Who never were ‘forgot'. That's a guy-guy, sex-sex
Thing that always brings special people to mind.

"Some people can be content, washin dishes and payin rent"

Always pay the rent first, because the ‘nest' snd the
‘Feathers' can't be ruffled. The cleaning is left to
The maid and then to myself on down the row. When
Somebody says "Amen" and "Well done", there won't be a
Tally attached about who, what, when or how often or
How well, unless you're like‘Some people', and none
Of ‘us' are: "That's okay for some people, for some,
Humdrum people to be, but some people ain't me."
