Someone will sneak Poetry out of the box
And let her breathe
Far from the stuffy academic air
That leaches away her spirit
Drives spikes of intellect and
Strict unreason into the red romance
of her heart.
In the toss and tumble of a harlequin wind
She will be free
Her hair billowing in the madness of delight
And people will start to listen
Songs that haven't been heard
In centuries of longing
Dreams to kindle the spark of
Ancient flame rising
Leaping from the depths of stone and bone
Since the astral dawn of time.
