Something Called Love Poem by Natalie Clyne

Something Called Love

Do you think…
No
Do you believe…
That when you meet the right person you know…

Your hearts suppose to beat fast and slow at the same time
Your throats suppose to run dry and your words stop
Your hands are suppose to tingle with every touch.

Well what happens
When that doesn’t happen?
Is it doomed to end?
…I don’t think so

My heart does not beat fast and slow at the same time
Because when I’m with him
I’m the person I want to be
No longer pretending
No longer trying to fit in, he accepts me.

My throat does not run dry and my words do not stop
Quite the opposite actually
I talk to him like I have known him forever
Laughing at every word
Unable to keep my smile contained

My hands do not tingle
But my body feels love
With his arms around me
Shielding me from the cold.

I’m happy
I’m safe
I’m his
He’s mine

For how long
I honestly do not know
But let me say this
If it ended tomorrow
He would still be in my heart
A hundred years from now
Till my very last breath…

That’s how i'd describe
The feeling
The emotion
The thought

Called

LOVE.
