Something Holds Us Firm Poem by Kishore Mishra

Something Holds Us Firm

The Himalayan grandeur is still on its firm perch;
Shaved- off slope will soon be chirpy with breeze,
Slipping through lush greenery, once tyres cease
Their thudding rumble; vainly do we search
For miracles when ledges in earth
Prolifically conceal gems of lasting worth.

Iced wilderness in the Antarctica rings with din
Of human invasion, the chilled mystery
Thus melts; the frozen packs, loosening free
Might sweep off town as once had been;
But impute blame to no blundering man
As well can awesome billion years explain.

Perhaps to a grander eminence are we bound,
Perhaps next minute in heavenly luxury we may roll
And snugly yawn away in majestic sprawls;
Dismal langour of desert in lush foliage may abound
Sweeping meadows curve through bustling town
Again may we revel in splendours in past known.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
We're destined to achieve startling results through all pervasive gloom; we can't afford to stumble and cry weakly after such superhuman effort.
