Sometimes Poem by Karen Esperanza

Sometimes

Sometimes I like to think that,
We possess certain instincts.
That at birth we keep ancestral knowledge.
Because then our bones could not deceive us,
the way our memories can
Or our desires.
And we could return to our lands without a map,
And we could love one another without guilt.
