Sometimes I Dream In Silhouettes Poem by Rachael Swiss

Sometimes I Dream In Silhouettes

We walk along the beach like shadow puppets
My dress billowing out behind me
Caught in the folds of the ocean breeze
Dancing barefoot to some old melody
It fizzes in our ears and hums out of our mouths
With the waves rumbling along like a timpani

In these dreams I know I am beautiful
And you are as sincere as the sand
Is forgiving underneath my feet

And the water runs cold
Lapping at our toes and sending chills down my spine
As the sun lies down to bed in its
Warm blanket of orange sky

The convergence of everything brings me peace
So well orchestrated
With the cicadas and the crickets
Our humming and our footfalls as we dance
Leading us on to our crescendo

I am a beautiful girl and you love me
When I am asleep.
