Alone in the room, with an open ear
She sits, deafened by hope and fear.
She can feel his pain all around her, his heart breaking
She prays to God for all the love in the world to stop her soul's aching
She wishes to hear one beloved sound - the sound of his laughter
She is surrounded by dead silence, alone with the one she sought after
Now it is the time to do her thinking, in complete solitude, she waits
She feels his hand touch hers, she realizes that love never fails.
He takes his last breath, his hand falls to the floor
The doctor explains his suffering is no more
She now knows that he is freed of pain, and is in higher grounds.
And she thinks to herself, sometimes silence is the best of sounds.
